Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort

The Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort is located between Ipanema beach and the exciting shopping scene of Barra da Tijuca shopping district. This is probably the only true beachfront property in Rio; of you insist on having the beach as close to you as possible, the Sheraton Rio is the best place to stay.

Other than being able to walk across the street to get to the beach, you can also enjoy the beautiful pool surrounded by three palm trees for a nice retreat. Of course, full-service spa, fitness center, steam room, and sauna are also available. I tried the sauna and it was great. On Sundays, you can take a nice walk to Ipanema beach and enjoy a nice festive market, with some Jazzy tunes and friendly crowds of mostly foreigners. You can buy crafts or try local foods in this weekly festival. Known as the “Hippie Fair” this little festival is also the best place to buy souvenirs and nice presents.

The one thing I love the most about Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort is the private balcony with views of the ocean or of the pool, Leblon, and Ipanema; there is no better feeling than waking up and looking at the beautiful blue ocean after a nice night rest. It simply gives the ultimate feeling of being on a holiday. The infamous Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed is presented in the available rooms and suites. There are entertainment centers spread throughout the hotel, including game room and arcade, to keep you and the rest of the family or friends entertained.

Casarao Steakhouse gives you the chance to enjoy the best Brazilian steak while looking at the beautiful view of the ocean. Mirador is even more dramatic in terms of view and ambience, overlooking the Atlantic. You can enjoy a nice selection of international and Brazilian cuisines served in a comfortable and rather casual ambience.
